Basketball Recap: Salem Hills Falls to Cedar Valley in First Game of Season

Salem Hills unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 75-70 to the Cedar Valley Aviators on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Salem Hills lost, don't look at Elijah Gasser. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-15 to rack up 26 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Ryder Hales was another key player, shooting 71% from the field en route to 11 points and three steals.

Austin Biehl went supernova For Cedar Valley., going 10-for-16 on his way to 26 points and eight rebounds. Those eight boards gave Biehl a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrik Enriquez, who posted nine points and six steals.

The victory got Cedar Valley back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Salem Hills will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Mountain Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cedar Valley, they have already played their next matchup, a 66-61 win against Judge Memorial Catholic on the 24th.
