Basketball Recap: Berthoud Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

If Roosevelt wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Berthoud, they should've done a better job of containing Ryan Callies. The Berthoud Spartans walked away with a 66-57 victory over the Roosevelt Roughriders on Tuesday for which the team can thank Callies, who went 8-for-18 en route to 27 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Despite the defeat, Roosevelt saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Noah Lucero went 7-for-14 to rack up 19 points along with seven boards and four steals. Lucero is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Peterson, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Berthoud and bumps their season record up to 7-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Roosevelt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.

Berthoud wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-33 victory against Wellington on the 20th. As for Roosevelt, they have also already played their next game, a 63-33 loss against Timnath on the 20th.
