Alpine started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-23, 25-14, 29-27.
Despite the loss, Alpine still got an impressive performance from Nadia Morris, who had 12 digs and 40 assists. Morris is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season.
Alpine's defeat dropped their record down to 12-18. As for Compass Academy, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Alpine is taking a road trip to square off against Kermit at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kermit is coming into the contest with four straight victories at home, so Alpine will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Compass Academy, they will welcome Denver City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
