League recap: Sutton throws longest pass in league this season for James Kenan

Marcelias Sutton and Juan Hooper provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Union. The connection was good for 90 yards, the longest such play in 1A Conference 12 this season.

James Kenan extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Spartans, 49-0. The victory was the 11th in a row for the team.

James Kenan's dynamic duo of Dominique Barnes and Hooper proved to be unstoppable against Union, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Barnes threw for 164 yards and 2 touchdowns and Hooper had 90 yards receiving. Antonio Smith helped James Kenan's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 84 yards.

Johnny Frasier was a passing and rushing force as Princeton bested Granville Central.

TJ Fullwood was a key player and the best on defense this week as Ken Avent, Jr.'s team defeated Douglas Burley's team. The 5-foot-11 senior pulled down 1 interception.

Frasier was a force in the backfield as the Bulldogs defeated the Panthers.

Princeton's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Michael Wooten has thrown for 1,446 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Frasier has 24 catches for 553 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place James Kenan takes on second place Princeton. The Tigers beat the Spartans last week, while Princeton defeated Granville Central.

Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Derrick Minor's team's Frasier goes up against James Kenan's Fullwood.

The Tigers' Sutton is a mere 53 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 95 carries Sutton has put up 947 yards this year.

Next week's game between Princeton and James Kenan will feature an aerial matchup as Wooten tests his arm against Fullwood's defensive ability.

One of 1A Conference 12's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Bulldogs and the Tigers face off next week.

North Duplin and Weldon played the most contested game in the league this week, with North Duplin eventually emerging with a 18-12 victory. Daron Goodman ran for 167 yards during the win.
