Baseball Game Preview: Hilmar Yellowjackets vs. Hughson Huskies

For the second straight game, Hilmar will face off against Hughson. The Yellowjackets will take on the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hilmar will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Hilmar took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Hughson, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Yellowjackets narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Huskies 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellowjackets have posted since February 26th.

Hilmar saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Sward, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. John Labno was another, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Hilmar pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hughson, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-3.
