Baseball Recap: Germantown Takes a Loss

Germantown has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They fell 10-5 to the Hillcrest Patriots. The loss was the Mavericks' first of the season.

Germantown saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rhett Murphy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. What's more, Murphy posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Brayden Quick was another, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Germantown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Germantown fell to 3-1. As for Hillcrest, they pushed their record up to 2-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Germantown will be playing at home against Petal at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hillcrest has already played their next game (against Warren Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
