Baseball Game Preview: Silver Stage Nighthawks vs. Battle Mountain Longhorns

Silver Stage hasn't had much luck against Battle Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Silver Stage Nighthawks will be playing at home against the Battle Mountain Longhorns at 10:00 a.m. Silver Stage is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.8 runs per game this season.

Silver Stage made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Battle Mountain, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Silver Stage blew past Battle Mountain 8-1 on Friday. The eight-run effort marked the Nighthawks' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Landen Wolf was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 6.6 strikeouts per game. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Wolf wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Casillas, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Another was Cody Shackley, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Silver Stage's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Battle Mountain, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.
