Baseball Recap: Paxton-Buckley-Loda Wins Going Away Against Salt Fork

Paxton-Buckley-Loda won the last time they faced Salt Fork and things went their way on Saturday too. The Panthers put the hurt on the Storm with a sharp 7-1 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Gavin Kief tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Paxton-Buckley-Loda got a big performance out of Tyler Cole, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Cole is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played. Colsen Hayden was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .314 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Salt Fork, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Coming up, Paxton-Buckley-Loda is taking a road trip to square off against Tolono Unity at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Salt Fork, they will welcome Hoopeston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
