Soccer Game Preview: Monterey vs. Lubbock-Cooper

The Monterey Plainsmen will square off against the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Lubbock-Cooper better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Monterey's game on Friday is any indication, that's when Monterey really gets things going. The Plainsmen's defense stepped up to hand Amarillo a 3-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Monterey, who have now won eight contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Lubbock-Cooper had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Rebels 4-1.

Monterey's win bumped their record up to 13-5-3. As for Lubbock-Cooper, they now have a winning record of 9-8-2.
