Basketball Recap: Kaleigh Starnes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Haven Christian over Pleasant View Christian

South Haven Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 60-40 to the Pleasant View Christian Warriors. South Haven Christian was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Pleasant View Christian earlier this season, when they won 39-34.

Several South Haven Christian players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaleigh Starnes, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. Starnes has been hot, having posted ten or more boards the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Polina Letova, who posted eight points and four steals.

Even though they lost, South Haven Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Pleasant View Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nellie Frame, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those 17 points gave Frame a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hollynn Carney, who put up 18 points and five assists.

South Haven Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Pleasant View Christian, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-11.

South Haven Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-29 win against Hendersonville Christian Academy on the 28th. As for Pleasant View Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 52-44 victory against South Haven Christian on the 4th.
