Basketball Recap: Rincon/University Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Rincon/University lost against Cholla back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Rangers fell 57-52 to the Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Chargers are ranked 24th).

Despite the loss, Rincon/University still got an impressive performance from Declan McGoldrick-Doty, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin William, who posted 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Rincon/University and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Cholla, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Looking ahead, Rincon/University won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Williams Field at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rangers will be up against the Black Hawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.38 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Cholla and Sunnyside will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
