Orange Beach is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Oakland. The Makos blew past the Patriots 13-2. Considering the Makos have won 25 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
MK McMullan tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, Orange Beach got a massive performance out of Teagan Revette, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Poland, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Orange Beach always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakland only posted an OBP of .300.
The victory (which was Orange Beach's sixth in a row) raised their record to 34-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Oakland, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-4-2.
Orange Beach has already played their next matchup, a 15-1 victory against Hoover on the 19th. As for Oakland, they will head out on the road to square off against Siegel at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
