New Palestine is 8-2 against New Castle since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Dragons will square off against the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. New Palestine will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
New Palestine barely beat Indianapolis Scecina Memorial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dragons were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Crusaders on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Jackson Kamp, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Havel, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
New Palestine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, New Castle had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Connersville by a score of 7-2 on Friday.
New Castle's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gannon Harris, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
New Palestine's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for New Castle, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-16.
New Castle's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. New Palestine has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for New Castle, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will New Palestine keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
New Palestine was able to grind out a solid win over New Castle in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 6-2. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
