Softball Game Preview: Algona Bulldogs vs. Hampton-Dumont/CAL

The Algona Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against Hampton-Dumont/CAL at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hampton-Dumont/CAL took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Algona, who comes in off a win.

While Algona didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Clear Lake on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Hampton-Dumont/CAL didn't have quite enough to beat Humboldt on Friday and fell 6-5.

Algona's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hampton-Dumont/CAL, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Algona couldn't quite finish off Hampton-Dumont/CAL in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
