Baseball Preview: Bayshore Bruins vs. Palmetto Tigers

Bayshore has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Palmetto Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bayshore is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

After only one run in their last game, Bayshore made sure to put some runs up on the board against Booker on Tuesday. Everything went Bayshore's way against Booker as Bayshore made off with a 21-10 win. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for Bayshore this season.

Diego Villegas made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Villegas has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive pitching appearances. Villegas was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Bayshore got a massive performance out of Jaden Judge, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayro Leon, who scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Palmetto unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Riverview Sarasota by a score of 4-3.

Palmetto saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey Lawrence, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Even though they lost, Palmetto hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverview Sarasota struck out seven times.

Bayshore's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Palmetto, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Bayshore's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. Bayshore has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Palmetto, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bayshore continue to outrun the ball?
