Baseball Recap: Gross Catholic's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Gross Catholic waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Douglas County West Falcon by a score of 6-2. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly four runs.

Luke Janovich tossed a big game, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Gross Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Legner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Gross Catholic's record now sits at 10-3. As for Douglas County West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gross Catholic is set to challenge their familiar foe Lincoln Christian at 5:00 p.m. on the 22nd. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 3.5, the Crusaders 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Douglas County West will face off against rival Raymond Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
