Softball Recap: Cherokee Comes Up Short

If Cherokee was riding high fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Sheffield on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tharptown Wildcats on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Madison Taylor was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Cherokee's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Tharptown, they pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Cherokee will be playing in front of their home fans against Shoals Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Flame's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tharptown, they will face off against Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give the Wildcats their first taste of in-conference action this season.
