Football Game Preview: Overlea Falcons vs. Owings Mills Golden Eagles

The Overlea Falcons will face off against the Owings Mills Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Overlea turned things around against Parkville on Thursday. They walked away with a 14-6 victory over the Knights.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Owings Mills, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They never let Catonsville get on the board and left with a 26-0 win on Thursday.

Overlea better keep an eye on Anthony Bland Jr. He was instrumental in Owings Mills' win, rushing for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Bland Jr is becoming a predictor of the Golden Eagles' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't).

Owings Mills was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Overlea's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Owings Mills, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-4.

Overlea lost to Owings Mills at home by a decisive 18-0 margin when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Falcons, Nevaeh Elliott (who rushed for 105 yards and three scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
