Bishop Moore is a perfect 10-0 against Lake Highland Prep since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bishop Moore Hornets will head out on the road to take on the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. Bishop Moore is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
While Bishop Moore's victory against Foundation Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Bishop Moore had just enough and edged out Foundation Academy 4-3 on Thursday. The four-run effort marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Layton Hall tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.
On the hitting side, Kai Lwin was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Lake Highland Prep lost 8-1 to Master's Academy on Thursday. The Highlanders haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Lake Highland Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Manny Socarras, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. Landon Towns also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Bishop Moore has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Lake Highland Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bishop Moore has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lake Highland Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bishop Moore took their win against Lake Highland Prep when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Moore since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
