Baseball Recap: North Bergen's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

North Bergen dropped their record down to 11-12 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 15-5 to the Linden Tigers. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Linden, their record is now 4-13. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

For Linden's part, Anthony Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. Garcia has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Linden's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-12 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jarier Santana was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliel Olivo, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Coming up, North Bergen will head out to take on Ferris at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bruins are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Linden, they will host South Hunterdon at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
