Basketball Recap: Hammond Skates Past Kentwood with Ease

Hammond's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They breezed by the Kentwood Kangaroos to the tune of 77-31. The Tornadoes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Hammond was led to victory by Jordin Lewis and Terran Perry. Lewis went 8 for 9 on his way to 18 points, while Perry went 9 of 16 en route to 20 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Perry a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Carbo, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

Hammond has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Kentwood, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hammond will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Salmen at 2:00 p.m. on December 30th. Kentwood also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against St. Helena College and Career Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
