Preview: San Benito Greyhounds vs. Los Fresnos Falcons
The San Benito Greyhounds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Los Fresnos Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: San Benito has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while the Falcons will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Friday, San Benito suffered a rough 58-36 defeat at the hands of the Raiders.
Meanwhile, Los Fresnos sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 win over the Golden Eagles on Tuesday.
Los Fresnos' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Gio Galvan, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, and Andrew Munoz, who scored 15 points. Galvan has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Jj Salazar was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
San Benito's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Los Fresnos, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season.
San Benito came up short against the Falcons in their previous matchup back in January, falling 74-63. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Galvan, who almost dropped a triple-double on 20 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Now that San Benito knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
