Recap: Brownstown/St. Elmo Eagles vs. Nokomis Redskins
After losing to the Nokomis Redskins the last time they met, the Brownstown/St. Elmo Eagles decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Brownstown/St. Elmo strolled past Nokomis with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 47-28. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Brownstown/St. Elmo.
Despite the loss, Nokomis still got an impressive performance from Grace Dewerff, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her.
Brownstown/St. Elmo's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Nokomis, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brownstown/St. Elmo will finish 2023 at home by hosting Arcola at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Nokomis won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mt. Olive at 6:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Mt. Olive is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
