Baseball Game Preview: Greene County Wildcats vs. Purvis Tornadoes

For the second straight game, Greene County will face off against Purvis. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Greene County heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Saturday. They lost 13-6 to Purvis. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Tornadoes: they've now lost three in a row.

For Purvis' part, JoJo Parker and Jacob Parker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Parker struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Jacob pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. JoJo has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Parker went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Jacob fired off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those two home runs gave Jacob a new career-high.

In other batting news, Banks Teater was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Tyce Shepherd was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Purvis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .513 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Purvis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.6 runs. As for Greene County, their loss dropped their record down to 19-12.
