Soccer Recap: Ventura Takes a Loss

Ventura managed to keep up with Pacifica until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Ventura Cougars came up short against the Pacifica Tritons, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 358th, while the Tritons are ranked 40th).

Ventura's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11-3. As for Pacifica, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-1-5 record this season.

Ventura is taking a road trip to face off against Rio Mesa at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Ventura's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end. Pacifica has already played their next match (against Dos Pueblos), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
