Softball Recap: San Marin Continues Road Dominance on Monday

San Marin came out on top against Tamalpais on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Mustangs took their match against the Red Tailed Hawks 7-3. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Red Tailed Hawks: they've now won five in a row.

Taylor Testa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Arianna Mendoza, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Savannah Reynolds, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

San Marin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

San Marin pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Tamalpais, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. San Marin is set to square off against their familiar foe Novato at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Tamalpais will take on rival Archie Williams at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Tailed Hawks 3, the Peregrine Falcons 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
