Soccer Game Preview: Marshall vs. Southern Boone

The Marshall Owls will head out on the road to challenge the Southern Boone Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Marshall will be strutting in after a victory while Southern Boone will be coming in after a defeat.

Marshall's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Knob Noster as they made off with an 8-0 win. Considering Marshall have won six games by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Southern Boone came up short against Moberly on Tuesday and fell 4-2.

The victory made it two in a row for Marshall and bumps their season record up to 8-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matches. As for Southern Boone, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

Marshall might still be hurting after the 5-2 loss they got from Southern Boone in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Owls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
