Basketball Game Preview: Vernon Lions vs. Holliday Eagles

Vernon is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Holliday is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Vernon Lions will welcome the Holliday Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Vernon is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering City View just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Holliday's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of City View. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 563rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 219th).

Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Holliday, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.

Vernon was able to grind out a solid victory over Holliday when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 53-44. Will Vernon repeat their success, or does Holliday have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
