Top high school basketball recruit Anthony Edwards headed to Georgia

By Staff Report Feb 11, 2019, 2:00pm

First-year head coach Tom Crean gets major boost in his task of building Bulldog basketball program.

Regarded as the No. 1 prospect in high school basketball's Class of 2019 by 247Sports, Anthony Edwards of Holy Spirit Prep (Atlanta, Ga.) committed to Georgia on Monday morning.

A 6-foot-5, 215-pound guard, Edwards made his decision live on CBS Sports HQ.
Despite major pushes from Florida State, Kansas and Kentucky (among others), it's been widely reported in recent weeks that Georgia was the team to beat.

Edwards is averaging around 27 points and nine rebounds per game this season for Holy Spirit Prep.

The new Bulldog pledge began his career at Therrell (Atlanta) before transferring to Holy Spirit Prep. He is pegged as the top prospect in the senior class by 247Sports and No. 2 in the 247Sports Composite, which brings into account ratings from other media outlets.

Crean and Georgia also have Class of 2019 commitments from wings Jaykwon Walton of Carver (Montgomery, Ala.) and Toumani Camara of Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.).
