Baseball Recap: Sterling Comes Up Short

Sterling lost to Nederland on Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rangers lost 7-1 to the Bulldogs. The Rangers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sawyer Wells was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since March 3rd.

Sterling's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Nederland, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Sterling and Nederland should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Rangers (ranked 181st) will meet West Brook (ranked 647th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Nederland will face off against Port Arthur Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (31 vs. 1275).
