Basketball Game Preview: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. St. Raphael Academy Saints

The Woonsocket Villa Novans will head out on the road to take on the St. Raphael Academy Saints at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Woonsocket has struggled recently with 15 defeats in a row, while St. Raphael Academy will arrive with three straight wins.

On Monday, Woonsocket didn't have quite enough to beat Mt. Hope and fell 49-47.

Meanwhile, St. Raphael Academy faced Narragansett in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. St. Raphael Academy skirted past Narragansett 52-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Saints have posted since January 22, 2024.

Woonsocket's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for St. Raphael Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Woonsocket didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against St. Raphael Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2020, but they still walked away with a 48-44 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woonsocket since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
