Basketball Recap: Aguilar Takes a Loss

Aguilar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a 66-23 loss at the hands of the Primero Bulldogs. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-13.

When it comes to explaining why Aguilar lost, don't look at Matthew Gonzales. Despite the final result, he posted ten points in addition to six boards and three blocks. That was a full 43.5% of Aguilar's points, marking the third time in a row Gonzales has earned more than a third of the team's points.

Mat Pachorek was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds for Primero. The team also got some help courtesy of Ralsten Leplatt, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

Aguilar's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Primero, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1.

Aguilar wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-51 loss against Walsenburg on the 14th. As for Primero, they will face off against Manzanola at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
