The Salesian College Preparatory Pride will challenge the El Cerrito Gauchos at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
El Cerrito will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Salesian College Preparatory extended their winning streak to nine on Thursday. The Pride put the hurt on St. Patrick-St. Vincent with a sharp 15-3 victory.
DeAmor Coleman made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Matea Gaddies was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gloria Alcaire, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
Salesian College Preparatory kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, El Cerrito got themselves on the board against Kennedy on Friday, but Kennedy never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Gauchos sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Like Salesian College Preparatory, El Cerrito also got a great game from a two-way player: Natalia Gawlikowski. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Gawlikowski was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arlie Tatum, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Olive Calvin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Salesian College Preparatory pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for El Cerrito, their win bumped their record up to 17-2.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Salesian College Preparatory hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like El Cerrito struggles in that department as they've averaged .409. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Salesian College Preparatory took their victory against El Cerrito in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Do the Pride have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gauchos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
