Baseball Recap: Evansville North Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Evansville North had no problem doing just that on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Castle Knights a 4-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-7 back in April.

Braden Perry looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Evansville North saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AJ Baggett, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Evansville North has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Castle, with the defeat, they broke their ten-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-6.

As of now, neither Evansville North nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
