Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Tri-West Hendricks

Tri-West Hendricks took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Indian Creek, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bruins had just enough and edged out the Braves 4-3. This was payback for the Bruins, who suffered an 18-10 loss the last time these two teams met.

Zack Baute made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with one double.

In other pitching news, Logan Haboush looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

Baute wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Frye, who went 2-for-6 with two runs.

The win (which was Tri-West Hendricks' fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Indian Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Tri-West Hendricks will host Frankfort at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hot Dogs will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Indian Creek, they will face off against Cascade at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
