Basketball Game Preview: West Caldwell Warriors vs. Newton-Conover Red Devils

West Caldwell is 0-10 against Newton-Conover since December of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The West Caldwell Warriors will challenge the Newton-Conover Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-19, which was the final score in West Caldwell's tilt against East Burke on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 456th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 23rd).

Meanwhile, Newton-Conover unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 61-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maiden.

This is the second loss in a row for West Caldwell and nudges their season record down to 2-11. As for Newton-Conover, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3.

West Caldwell was dealt a bruising 71-15 defeat at the hands of Newton-Conover in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Caldwell was down 33-6.
