Volleyball Game Preview: Berean Christian Eagles vs. Acalanes Dons + Official Tickets

The Berean Christian Eagles will head out to take on the Acalanes Dons at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Berean Christian will be strutting in after a win while Acalanes will be coming in after a defeat.

If Head-Royce wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Berean Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Anna McCombe. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Jayhawks 3-2 thanks in part to McCombe, who had nine digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having also posted 21 or more assists the last four times she's played.

Berean Christian was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-23, 24-26, 25-19, 15-8.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Acalanes and Northgate, and Northgate kept the tradition alive. The Dons fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Acalanes took Northgate into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. The final score came out to 25-5, 25-15, 17-25, 16-25, 15-8.

Acalanes has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for Berean Christian, their win bumped their record up to 11-15.

Berean Christian suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Acalanes in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
