Softball Recap: Valley Christian Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Valley Christian never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Crismon Rattlers. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Makay Fraley, who gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Crismon off the board. Fraley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maddy Harmon, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Abrielle Jarles, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Valley Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive matchups.

Valley Christian's win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-3-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Crismon, they moved to 21-8 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Valley Christian will square off against Florence at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gophers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Crismon, they will take on Westview at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
