Baseball Game Preview: Westside Christian Eagles vs. Warrenton Warriors

Westside Christian hasn't had much luck against Warrenton recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Westside Christian comes in on three and Warrenton on eight.

While Westside Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over Willamina on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Warrenton beat Ilwaco 7-3 on Wednesday.

Aaron Neahring looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryder Sturgell, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Warrenton pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Westside Christian, their record is now 7-5.

Westside Christian suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Warrenton in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
