Basketball Recap: Linn Wildcats vs. Fayette Falcons
Linn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fayette Falcons. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.
Despite the loss, Linn still got an impressive performance from Gus Peters, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 22 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Peters a new career-high in points.
It was another big night for Kaleb Friebe, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds for Fayette. Friebe's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Blake Braden was another key player, putting up five points along with nine boards and three blocks.
Linn's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Fayette, their win ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-12.
Linn wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 79-31 defeat against Hallsville on the 28th. As for Fayette, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-21 loss against Blair Oaks on the 28th.
