Baseball Recap: Father McGivney Catholic Find Success

Pleasant Plains typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Father McGivney Catholic proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Cardinals. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Griffins.

Kannon Kamp made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Father McGivney Catholic let Ben Sink and Mason Holmes run wild. Sink went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Holmes went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That home run was Sink's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isaac Wendler, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Father McGivney Catholic's record is now 30-3. As for Pleasant Plains, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 27-6.
