Basketball Game Preview: Edinburgh Lancers vs. South Decatur Cougars

Edinburgh hasn't had much luck against South Decatur recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Edinburgh Lancers will head out to face off against the South Decatur Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Edinburgh beat Knightstown 57-52.

Meanwhile, South Decatur won against Edinburgh last Saturday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. South Decatur snuck past Shawe Memorial with a 57-52 win. The victory was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on three straight.

South Decatur's win came from a few key players Edinburgh will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Drake Scaggs, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight boards and six assists. Scaggs is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lucas Ballard, who went 6 of 14 en route to 21 points and seven rebounds.

South Decatur smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matches.

South Decatur's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. As for Edinburgh, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.

Edinburgh came up short against South Decatur when the teams last played last Saturday, falling 57-53. Can Edinburgh avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
