Baseball Game Preview: Fenwick Friars vs. IC Catholic Prep Knights

For the second straight game, Fenwick will face off against IC Catholic Prep. The Friars will welcome the Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fenwick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Fenwick not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over IC Catholic Prep. The win continues a trend for the Friars in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.

Matt Purta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits. He has become a key player for Fenwick: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Fenwick let Johnny Buchman and Andrew Henderson run wild. Buchman went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Henderson scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those four RBI gave Buchman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Morgan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Fenwick's victory bumped their record up to 5-6-1. As for IC Catholic Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
