Softball Recap: Lake Forest Comes Up Short

Lake Forest had lost 14 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-14 to make it 15. They came up short against the Niles North Vikings, falling 16-1. The Scouts were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Niles North, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

For Niles North's part, they got a massive performance out of Amaya Kang, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Olivia Infante, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Coming up, Lake Forest will take on Zion-Benton at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Niles North, they will welcome Vernon Hills at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
