Softball Recap: Bakersfield Triumphs

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Tuesday. Bakersfield walked away with a 9-6 victory over Mansfield. Bakersfield hasn't had any issues with Mansfield recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Lexi Clarkson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Bakersfield let Paige Crites and Kelsey Cotter run wild. Crites went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, while Cotter went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Eden Cotter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Bakersfield's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Mansfield, they dropped their record down to 5-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Bakersfield will head out to take on Van Buren at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mansfield, they will take on Hartville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
