Iran Rubio in the first quarter,
Taft (Calif.) led 25-6 at the half.
The Wildcats expanded their lead to 33 points entering the fourth quarter. Taft scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by
Vaughn Richardson to
Jeremy Harmer.
A 22-point second quarter helped THS secure the big victory. The Wildcats scored on a Richardson touchdown pass to
Steven Gee, a touchdown pass by Richardson to Harmer and a touchdown run by
Matua Iakopo in the quarter.
Rolando Arrona made a difference for
Kennedy (Delano, Calif.). The sophomore quarterback threw two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to three on the year.
Coming into the game Taft had allowed 27.1 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding the Thunderbirds right around their season average of 10.9 points scored per game.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Wildcats, which was coming off a 30-23 defeat at the hands of Bakersfield Christian in its previous game.
