Recap: Oxford Prep Griffins vs. East Wake Academy Eagles
The Oxford Prep Griffins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to East Wake Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oxford Prep in their matchups with East Wake Academy: they've now lost six in a row.
East Wake Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leila Gonzalez, who scored 19 points. Emma Roche was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Oxford Prep's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for East Wake Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Oxford Prep will be playing at home against Roxboro Community at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Roxboro Community is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.3 points per game. As for East Wake Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Vance Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Vance Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Wednesday.
