Softball Game Preview: Reed Raiders vs. Bishop Manogue Miners

Reed has gone 9-1 against Bishop Manogue recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Miners at 3:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bishop Manogue will be up against a hot Reed team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. The Raiders blew past Woodcreek 8-2 on Saturday. Eight seems to be a good number for the Raiders as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Reed got a great performance from Britney Taelour as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Taelour has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Reed's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kehaulani Tambaoan, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Tambaoan has posted since back in February. Elana Torres was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Reed was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Bishop Manogue faced Carson in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Miners were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Senators. The Miners haven't had any issues with the Senators recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Reed's victory bumped their record up to 12-3-1. As for Bishop Manogue, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 11-5-1.

Everything went Reed's way against Bishop Manogue in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Reed made off with an 11-3 victory. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Miners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
