Softball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

Eastern lost against Elwood back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Comets fell 9-5 to the Panthers. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mackenzea Causey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Marly Coan, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Eastern's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Elwood, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern will take on Carroll at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season. As for Elwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alexandria-Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
