Volleyball Recap: Evansville Reitz Takes a Loss

Evansville Reitz was the 3-0 winner over Gibson Southern when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans on Tuesday.

While Evansville Reitz ultimately came up short, they really made Gibson Southern work, particularly in the fourth set. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24.

REESE PARSONS paced Evansville Reitz's offense, picking up 26 kills. PARSONS got some help from KIERSTYN KAISER and her 28 assists. Finally, KAISER was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Evansville Reitz has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Gibson Southern, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Evansville Reitz and Gibson Southern should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 178th) will meet Pike Central (ranked 375th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Gibson Southern will face off against Wood Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (91 vs. 299).
